About Fazenda Coffee
Fazenda Coffee brings Brazilian specialty coffee from family farms in Minas Gerais straight to your door. Every coffee we sell is 100% Arabica, SCA-scored and shipped as roasted whole bean, so you can grind it fresh for every cup.
Why Brazil, why Minas Gerais
Minas Gerais is home to the mountain farms our coffees come from. Altitude, rich soil, sunlight, shade, moisture and mountain winds give Arabica coffee there the conditions to develop naturally sweet notes like chocolate and caramel. Our coffees are grown by Brazilian farming families, including the Alves Lima family.
Our partner farm: Café Alves Lima
The Alves Lima family has grown coffee since 1925. Their farm, Agropecuária Alves Lima, is in Candeias, Minas Gerais. It was started by Getúlio Alves, who bought a small piece of land and planted the first coffee trees. His son, João José Alves de Alvarenga, trained as an agricultural technician, a coffee-growing technologist and an agronomist, and his son Bruno Alves de Alvarenga, who took barista courses in Brazil and Australia, is the family's third generation in coffee.
Only ripe cherries go on to the drying process, which gives more sweetness, quality and uniformity in the cup. Café Alves Lima Especial is certified under the Certifica Minas Café program for quality and traceability.
Café Alves Lima Especial is a 100% Arabica Arara variety, naturally processed and grown at 1,000–1,200 meters, scored 84+ points on the SCA scale.
